Though a lot of patrons were sad to see the haute spot Avalon close down after its very successful stint that lasted over a decade, Chef Chris McDonald seems to have moved on to better things in life. In an arcade mall located just off Yonge Street and north of St. Clair he has opened an extraordinary restaurant, Cava. In this restaurant, McDonald has departed from his usual style and offers his patrons a selection of simple, tapas-inspired small plates that emphasize on Spanish and Mexican accents. It created such a stir on its opening that it earned itself the “Best New Restaurant” votes in Toronto Life Magazine 2007.
